On Different Ground: A Response to Michael Eric Dyson

Malea Powell

From the article: "Much of my ill-concealed resentment here has to do with the fact that while the work of Dyson and hooks and many other black scholars has helped me to see how I might be able to situate myself in the academy, I yearn for my 'own' visible community of scholars, for a 'tradition' of American Indian public intellectual life through which my own work can be seen as productive and contributory."
